Agate Agate has the same chemical composition as quartz, but instead of forming whole crystals, it has what is called a microcrystalline structure. To be a technically true “agate” the stone must exhibit a pattern or banding. Otherwise it is considered chalcedony. Found all over the world, there are many different types of agate including carnelian, moss agate, turtleback, iris, etc. Much agate comes from Brazil, where it is sometimes dyed to create vibrant pinks, blues, greens, and purples. Other sources for beautiful agates include Oregon, Mexico, Botswana, and Australia. Click Here To See All of Our Agate Products!
