Oregon Sunstone
Oregon Sunstone is a unique variety of plagioclase feldspar, found only in Lake & Harney Counties in very remote south central Oregon. What makes the Oregon Sunstone so unique is the inclusion of copper, which gives the mineral a mesmerizing schiller effect. While most Oregon Sunstone is a pale yellow, the copper can also turn a sunstone red, blue, and/or green.
Oregon Sunstone was named the official Oregon State Gemstone in 1987
