OREGON'S TREASURE: ROCKS!
Join us for a Rockhounding Field Trip!
Agates, Jaspers, Calcite, and Zeolite Crystals
at the Oregon Coast -- 2 hrs.
Saturday, July 18th, 2009 (Time and meeting place TBA)
One of most productive beach collecting localities in Oregon is west of Tillamook. This part of the coast is known for plentiful amounts of agate, colorful jasper, and zeolite crystals for the amateur or seasoned rockhound to collect! Occasional pieces of petrified wood, calcite, and small geodes can also be found. In addition to the dazzling array of mineral specimens, the collecting location is also one of the most beautiful beaches in Oregon. Trips are often planned in conjunction with low tide, and there are plenty of sea stars and anemones to investigate!
